The Bahá’í teachings first reached Uganda on 2nd August, 1951, brought by a handful of friends from Iran and the United Kingdom.

By 1952, four Ugandans had accepted the new Faith. They joined the original pioneers to form the Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Kampala, the first governing body of the Faith in the country. By the end of the year, over 200 people had accepted the new Faith.
