Hillside High International School was set up in 1993 as the brainchild of a philanthropic businessman by the name of Wilbrodiz Ruga Gamu. He gathered together investors with other expertise including finance, project management and architecture to help make his dream a reality. Crucially he also persuaded Mr. James Park to join his team as the headmaster. Mr. Park had taught for many years in the UK and East Africa and had also written several educational books including several for the Ugandan school's market. The school opened its doors in January 1994 with a handful of scholarship students from the local community and soon began to grow. Under Mr. Park’s dedicated leadership, an ethos of serious learning in a gentle and peaceful environment was cultivated. Many students have passed through the school with excellent qualifications, knowledge and skills.
